The FBI is investigating an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, which took place at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. A suspect was engaged by a Secret Service agent on the golf course, approximately 300-500 yards away from Trump, and an AK-47 style rifle, two backpacks, and a Go Pro camera were found in the suspect’s area. President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland are monitoring the situation, and Vice President Kamala Harris expressed relief that her political opponent is safe, condemning violence in America.
An individual believed to be connected to the shooting has been arrested by the Martin County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred on the same day that the Republican nominee made controversial remarks about Taylor Swift and his running mate admitted to spreading fake stories about Haitian migrants. This incident comes two months after Trump was injured in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, prompting increased security measures at his events.
Trump is scheduled to introduce a new cryptocurrency business from Mar-a-Lago and hold campaign events in Michigan, New York, and North Carolina this week. Senator J.D. Vance, his running mate, will also make remarks in several states. The former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned in the aftermath of the July assassination attempt, and Trump has since increased security measures at his public appearances.
