Newly released bodycam footage shows police interviewing Colt Gray and his father more than a year before Colt allegedly shot and killed four people and injured nine others at Apalachee High School in Georgia. Colt Gray has been charged with four felony murder counts, while his father, Colin Gray, faces multiple charges including two counts of murder in the second degree. The video reveals that Colin Gray was aware of his son possessing a weapon and had reported online threats of a school shooting. Despite this, there was no probable cause for an arrest. The video also shows the father expressing shock at the online threats made by his son, saying that he and his son took gun safety seriously. Authorities also noted that Colt Gray denied making the online threats and had only used Discord and TikTok. The release of the video comes after reports that Marcee Gray, Colt’s mother, called the school counselor on the day of the shooting, expressing an “extreme emergency” and saying her son needed to be found immediately. The Gray family has faced significant legal consequences, with Colin Gray being the first parent in Georgia to be charged for an attack allegedly carried out by his child. These charges continue a trend of parents being held responsible when their children commit violent acts.
