A mass shooting at the King Soopers grocery store in Boulder County in March 2021 has left ten people dead and the suspect, Ahmad Alissa, on trial for multiple charges, including first-degree murder. During the trial, surveillance video footage was shown in court, depicting the horrific events that unfolded on that tragic day. Victims were seen running for their lives as Alissa allegedly pursued and shot them.
Rikki Olds, Denny Stong, Neven Sanisik, Kevin Mahoney, and Tralona Bartkowiak were among those who lost their lives in the shooting spree. Families of the victims were in attendance at the trial and were emotional as they watched the last moments of their loved ones’ lives on screen.
The defense has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, acknowledging that Alissa was the shooter in the massacre. Video evidence, including surveillance footage and digital re-enactments, was presented to the jury, providing a timeline of the events that transpired during the 68-second shooting spree.
The lead investigator testified that most of the victims were in Alissa’s line of sight as he pursued them, shooting until they stopped moving. The courtroom was somber as the details of the horrific incident were discussed, with the suspect showing signs of emotion as the footage was shown. The trial continues as more information is presented.
