Revolutionizing Golf for Disabled Players: The Impact of the VertaCat

Todd Landfried and Hope Kittel, two individuals with impaired mobility, are finding joy and independence through the Stand Up and Play Foundation’s eastern Wisconsin chapter. Landfried, who lost his ability to walk after a snowmobiling accident, is now using a mobility device called the VertaCat to get back to activities he loves, like golf. The VertaCat allows wheelchair users and others with impaired mobility to play golf from a standing position, providing physical exercise and immense psychological benefits. Kittel, who also experienced a devastating health event that limited her mobility, is now back on the golf course thanks to the VertaCat. The Stand Up and Play Foundation is working to partner with golf courses in eastern Wisconsin to provide more VertaCats to individuals with mobility issues. Their goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of disability, has access to this technology and can experience the joy of playing golf. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Kittel get her own VertaCat so she can continue enjoying the sport she loves. Through their determination and resilience, Landfried and Kittel are inspiring others to overcome obstacles and live life to the fullest.
