Colorado authorities arrest 4 suspects involved in a serial shoplifting scheme after crackdown

Surveillance led to the discovery of stolen merchandise being divided among the suspects at a shopping center. Officers then successfully arrested four suspects and recovered stolen items worth hundreds of dollars, returning them to the businesses. The suspects, from Denver and Aurora, are facing charges under Aurora’s strict retail theft ordinance. Passed in 2023 and strengthened this year, the ordinance mandates jail time for retail theft of $100 or more, with repeat offenders facing even harsher penalties. The armed robbery investigation is still ongoing. The Aurora Police Department commended the officers for their diligent work in apprehending the suspects and recovering stolen items.
