Democratic vice presidential pick Tim Walz, a Minnesota governor with Midwestern roots, held a rally in Nebraska near Omaha’s Second Congressional District, which both campaigns are targeting. Walz emphasized his Nebraska background, referencing local culture like cinnamon rolls and college football. Both campaigns are focused on winning the district, with recent polling showing Harris closing the lead Trump had on Biden. Harris and Walz are in a tight race with Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance in several swing states. Walz took shots at Vance during his speech and other speakers included Nebraska State Sen. Tony Vargas and Preston Love Jr. who is running against Sen. Pete Ricketts. Walz is set to speak at the Democratic National Convention and will debate Vance on CBS on Oct. 3.
