Alexander Mountain Fire in Larimer County now completely under control.

After nearly three weeks, the Alexander Mountain Fire in Larimer County, Colorado, has finally been fully contained. The U.S. Forest Service announced on Saturday that the 9,668-acre fire is now 100% contained. The fire, which started near the community of Drake on July 29, led to the evacuation of over 5,000 people and resulted in the destruction of 26 homes and 21 outbuildings. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Acting Forest Supervisor Jason Sieg expressed gratitude to all the agencies, partners, fire personnel, and community members who joined forces to combat the fire. The Forest Service is now shifting focus towards recovery efforts and working with affected residents of the Cedar Park community.

The fire was determined to be human-caused, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause. Residents impacted by the fire can seek assistance at the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office disaster assistance center, located at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. The center provides access to mental health services, food, licensing information, and resources for cleaning up homes.

The Alexander Mountain Fire was one of several wildfires that occurred in the region during that week, highlighting the importance of preparedness and coordination among various agencies and community partners. The successful containment of the fire is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved in the firefighting efforts.
