Local and state police are investigating a shooting that occurred at Virginia State University’s campus, resulting in four people being shot near Daniel Gymnasium. The incident took place around midnight, and all four victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It has been confirmed that none of the victims are current students at the university for the fall 2024 semester. Police have not released any identifying information about the individuals shot, but multiple suspects have been identified, and charges are pending.
Contrary to initial reports, no officers discharged their firearms during the incident. The motive behind the shooting is currently unknown, and the Virginia State Police are assisting in the investigation. As of mid-Wednesday morning, there is no further threat to the Virginia State community in connection to the shooting.
