Denver Public Schools continues efforts to recruit and hire teachers from around the world

Denver Public Schools is making a push to hire more international educators as students prepare to head back to school. The International Educators Institute is providing support for teachers settling into the United States. Dozens of teachers from countries like Cameroon, Colombia, the Philippines, Mexico, and Costa Rica have shown interest in participating in DPS’s biliteracy efforts.

One teacher, Anna Victoria Alpizar from Costa Rica, was drawn by the multicultural setting and quality of education in DPS. With the help of the Institute, she experienced a smooth transition with support from HR and other individuals. The goal was to have 200 international teachers by this fall, but they have surpassed that with around 300 teachers starting the year.

Alpizar highlighted DPS’s culture of belonging, expressing excitement about exploring the city and being the best professional possible. The program aims to provide teachers with the necessary resources and support to excel in their roles. As the new school year approaches, Denver Public Schools is committed to integrating more international educators into their classrooms to enhance the educational experience for students.
