Cooper emphasized the need to restore respect for the police force and condemned those who have sought to justify rioting as a response to “legitimate concerns”. In response, Deputy Leader of Reform UK Richard Tice challenged Cooper’s stance, calling attention to past incidents involving police officers at Manchester airport and questioning when charges would be pressed against the assailants.
