Europe urges Israel-Hamas ceasefire as US deploys additional forces to Middle East

International leaders have come together to demand de-escalation and stability in the Middle East region as the US deploys military vehicles amid rising tensions. European leaders like Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz, and Keir Starmer have endorsed a plan to end the Israel-Hamas war, calling for the release of hostages, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the withdrawal of Israel from Gaza. Mediators from the US, Qatar, and Egypt have been trying to broker a three-phase plan to secure peace.

Israel’s Defence Minister has warned of impending retaliatory strikes from Lebanon and Iran, saying that Israel is in a state of preparedness against such attacks. Military operations in Gaza are being defended as a means to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas. Over 39,000 people in Gaza have died since the start of the war, with tens of thousands more wounded.

In response to the escalating situation, the US has ordered a guided missile submarine to the Middle East and increased its military presence in the region following the assassinations of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders. Retaliatory strikes by Iran and Hezbollah are being monitored closely by officials.

Recent Israeli strikes in southern Gaza have led to the deaths of 13 individuals, including a child, leading to an evacuation of the area by civilians. The Israeli Defence Force claims that Palestinian militants are using the area to launch rockets. The situation remains tense as international efforts continue to seek peace and stability in the region.
