Denver and other parts of Colorado are facing the threat of flash flooding and severe storms today. Due to a combination of monsoon moisture, slow storm motion, and backbuilding potential, the stage is set for potentially active thunderstorms Monday evening. Areas at the greatest risk include burn scars like Alexander Mountain, Stone Canyon, and Quarry, with a flood watch in effect until 9PM. Denver, along with Douglas and Elbert Counties, are included in the warning.
One or two rogue storms could produce large hail and damaging winds, with the Palmer Divide and Eastern Plains being the main areas of concern. First Alert Meteorologist Joe Ruch is providing updates on the situation on CBS News Colorado’s TV broadcast and free streaming service. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this weather event.
